Each K-9 Armor vest is made of the same material that protects two-legged members of law enforcement. We custom-fit each K-9 Armor vest so the bulletproof parts cover the vital organs.

K-9 Armor vests are made of
Type IIIA Kevlar®
and custom-fit to each dog, donated FREE to CA law enforcement dogs.

Our Type IIIA protects against a .357 Magnum, the older Type IIA only protects up to a 9mm. All 2-legged officers receive Type IIIA minimum standard, and the police dogs deserve the same protection!

Thank you for your
tax-deductible donation.

Help us protect those who protect you!

K-9 Armor is a public benefit charity. Charity means you keep nothing for yourself, beware of fundraisers who take money on behalf of charity and keep some for themselves to do "other good things." Those who take public donations need to offer financials open to the public. Fundraising for canine body armor for police dogs is becoming popular, and you have the right to verify how a charity spends your donation, ask to see the IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter and ask to see where financials are published so you know your money is going to protect the police dogs! Follow the link below to the California State Charity Registy on the Attorney General's page where you can also see the rules and laws governing fundraisers.

K-9 Armor is the official, California registered tax-deductible, non-profit public benefit charity approved by the California Secretary of State and Attorney General's Office, the Dept. of Justice, the CA Franchise Tax Board and Federal IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, for the purpose of raising public funds to supply bulletproof K-9 Armor vests to the brave, beautiful police dogs of California.

K-9 Armor accepts donations from the public to protect California law enforcement dogs. Every time we raise $750 we purchase a Kevlar K-9 Armor vest and give it FREE to another California law enforcement dog. Most police departments and law enforcement agencies do not budget for bulletproof vests for their K-9's. Every two-legged officer and member of law enforcement who carries a gun, automatically receives a bulletproof vest and we believe their four-legged partners deserve the same protection. These brave, beautiful dogs risk their lives to protect us, help us protect them with your tax-deductible donations.

K-9 Armor started in September 2003 partnering with the Marin County Sheriff's Office until 2009 when we ended our partnership, and with their encouragement and guidance, obtained the honorable status of State Charity.

June 8, 2009 , we obtained the 501(c)(3) status as a Public Benefit Charity for the State of California, protecting California Law Enforcement Canines with Bulletproof Vests, relying on donations to K-9 Armor.

Many thanks to the kind folks with marketing skills that encouraged us to display all the patches and while we owe a great debt of thanks for helping us off to a great start, we face the future on our own four paws standing alone, as the sole Public Benefit Charity that donates 100 percent of our time and funds.

The current K-9 Armor board of directors includes President Deputy Daniel Marrett who is a Federal ATF and Marin County Sheriff K-9 Handler, Vice President Sgt. Mike Crain of the Marin County Sheriff's Dept. in San Rafael, CA and Co-Founder, Secretary and Treasurer Suzanne Saunders who serves as a Marin County EMT and Medical Reserve Corps Unit Leader for the Veterinary Unit. All board members volunteer our time and we do not pay ourselves, ALL donations are 100 percent directed toward purchase of K-9 Armor vests. Thanks also to Deputy Karen Wofford for helping direct our web site format and providing a link from the Marin County Deputy Sheriff's Association web site and helping direct us how to acheive our own 501(c)(3) for our tax-deductible status.

Our costs include $695 for the vest, $5 for shipping, $57 tax, and $12 for side panels that say K-9 Armor and incidental cost of velcro. Each vest includes two department patches from the department receiving the vest attached to the vest by velcro in case the vest is handed down to a replacement dog and they need a new vest, or if the handler and dog move to a new department, the custom-fit vest can stay with the dog and the patches can be replaced, since each vest is custom-fit to each dog, if they stay in service, they should stay protected. Thanks to Sierra Police Supply for adding velcro to the patches for no charge. They supply these Kevlar vests to us for at this incredible cost and add the velcro at no charge to the custom patches because they believe in our cause and give us a great price through their special, K-9 Program.

Throughout the year, we collect random donations not designated for any particular K9, that we thank you for contributing to our operating expenses including phone, UPS shipping and web site costs. These are all documented in our 990 Tax Form due in August of every year starting 2010 and will be available for public inspection, so you know your money is well spent to protect the dogs who lay down their lives for us.

Take care of those who take care of you, help us keep them armed to the teeth with K-9 Armor!
